I finally saw Julie & Julia, a movie that has caused Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child to become the No. 1 Bestseller in the Aug. 30th edition of the New York Times. Only 48 years after it was first published!
If you know French cooking, you know so many of the recipes revolve around eggs, and what better compliment to eggs is there than toast?
I tried to spot a toaster, or toaster oven in the movie...and even a retro toaster in the flashbacks, but didn't see one. Certainly one was tucked away somewhere.
The movie is based on the true story of Julie Powell. In 2002 she decided to cook her way through all the recipes (over 500) in the book in 365 days and create a blog describing her experience. The rest is history!
Wow....Mrs. Popup wishes she could test one toaster a week for a year and let you know the results....but, buying a new toaster each week would be hard to explain!

This enables you to view, and if necessary, cancel the browning cycle at any time. In my world that means watching the toast go up and down, up and down. At least they are entertained while you're getting ready.
I see the favoriate feature being the display which acts as a toasting progress indicator, (my new nerd persona couldn't resist that part) COUNTING DOWN how long is left in the toasting cycle. The toaster beeps when the cycle is complete. No more "WHEN WILL MY TOAST BE DONE?" Those little ones can even practice their math skills as it counts down to completion!
So don't just put paper & pencils on your back to school list, add a Breville 2-slice smart toaster...your child will be glad you did.

OMG...I never thought it would happen...just wanted to find the best two slice toaster or four slice toaster...and I'm hooked on reading the best toaster reviews and could now be considered a nerd!

With a click of a button I landed at Wired Magazine...this is where the nerd title comes in...I guess people reviewing this publication can be considered nerds!
What I found was Hans Scharler and his twittering toaster - really a toaster that twitters..his heading is "Twittering Toaster Offers Some Tasty Bites" not sure what type of powerful toaster makes it work, but.....really...who would have thought of this....a real techie for sure.
Think I'll leave this high tech world and be happy to continue to review a back to basics toaster...NOT...I'll never be able to look at a toaster as just an appliance....who isn't curious to see what a Breville Smart Toaster Oven can do.

A toaster's life for me....I can see it now...

Blue Toasters, Green Toasters, Stainless Steel Toasters...best bagel toaster, best two slice toaster and on and on. .. I couldn't help it....my life was being taken over and consumed by my favorite appliance...toasters...whatever happened to just back to basics toasters?
Everywhere I went I found myself looking to see what type of toasters or toaster ovens everyone was using... would I spot a retro stainless steel number or perhaps a cobalt blue toaster...or please, please - a green toaster oven or a green toaster.
My husband couldn't figure me out....I couldn't wait to slip silently into kitchens wherever we went to see what beauty might be on their countertop. This from someone who answers "where do you want to go" whenever asked what's for dinner?"
After extensive research, we finally had a diagnosis....I was suffering from TOASTERITIS!
The symptoms were in front of us all along...including making my grandchildren pose in front of the best small toaster or best stainless steel toaster I could find. I must admit for photo purposes my red-haired granddaughter looks great next to a hunter green toaster!

I thought a simple black toaster oven was all I needed to make my life complete - little do I know. After reviewing some earlier comments all I can say is OMG. While I've been living my middle class life - the world of toaster ovens and toasters has exploded!
Simple me, I went to buy a toaster for a shower gift ... Wow! We have all sorts to choose from... metal toaster onyx black (which looked great to me), but then I spied a Cloer Toaster and my heart began to sing! As I drifted towards this baby....a whole new world began to open up to me in stainless steel... hmmm, baby blue, green, everything you can imagine.
... black toasters, red toasters, white toaster ovens, oh my.
I decided to hurry home and check all these babies out online---oh what I've been missing!
